Why flowers and plants?
It all started in 2021: my partner and I were looking for an apartment. Initially, I was vehemently opposed to buying an apartment for various reasons. But as it was a long-held dream of his, I didn't want to stand in the way - it was his project and I wanted to support him. So, at the beginning of the year, we discovered our dream apartment by chance and I immediately fell in love with our new home and loved the fact that all the streets in the neighborhood had flower names. Curiously, I was listening to a few podcasts about medicinal plants and phytology at the time and reading identification books out of curiosity. I was enchanted by the botanical world. Not so long ago, I had attended a herbal seminar and even flirted with the idea of training as a medicinal herb teacher. I secretly admired the idea of a mystical, wise herb witch who listens to and receives the wisdom of nature and is one with Mother Earth.
But again, it was this initial resistance (like my initial aversion to cacti) that ultimately revealed itself as a gift once you just go with the flow and let things happen.
This interesting circumstance ultimately inspired me to make the second volume about the plant world entering into a dialog with Kekoa. In the same year, 2021, I also fulfilled a dream of a longer trip that started in the summer. I had already started writing the second manuscript, but when I found myself alone in the highlands of Sri Lanka, secluded between tea plantations and green mountains, I completely rewrote the story. The result was 9 different plants. I associate the flowers with certain feelings and experiences with people in my life for whom I am very grateful. This journey has led to a deeper friendship with myself - some of these emotions I have put into this book.
